COUGAR FOOTBALL:

Gateway to College and the Pros

Coaches Dave Brown, Joel Hicks, and Jack Turner have all been very successful in getting their players onto the next level once their Cougar football playing days are over.  Pulaski County football fans have seen many of their Cougar players make their way from Kenneth J. Dobson Stadium into different college stadiums around the country and even into stadiums at the professional level.  Former Cougar players have played at every level of college football including the Football Bowl Subdivision, the Football Championship Subdivision, Div. II, Div. III, and even NAIA.  They are as follows:

Mike Alderman—East Tennessee State University

Brandon Anderson—Prepped one season at Hargrave Military Academy and now plays for Akron University.

 

Trey Angle—Emory and Henry College 

 

Adam Adkins—Glenville State College

 

Shawn Branscome—Would prep for one season at Hargrave Military Academy before going onto Morehead State University.

 

Charlie Bryant—Ohio University

 

Jawan Clark—Would begin his career at NC State and later transfer to Western Carolina.

 

Adam Brockmeyer—Ferrum College

 

Ryan Brockmeyer—Began his career at Marshall University before transferring to Ferrum College to play alongside his brother, Adam.

 

J.R. Brown—Virginia Military Institute

 

Jackie Bruce - William and Mary

 

Derrick Burks—Played at Virginia Tech before transferring to Morehead State University where he currently plays.

 

 

Dewayne Burks—Ferrum College

 

 

Gary Clark—Would enjoy a very successful career at James Madison University before going onto have a long NFL career with the Washington Redskins and Arizona Cardinals.  With the Redskins, Clark would win a pair of Super Bowls.

Frank Cobbs—Would play at James Madison University, winning a Division I-AA National Championship.  Currently plays for the Albany Conquest of the Arena Football League 2.

 

Brian Clymer—United States Military Academy

 

Bruce Coleman—Hampden-Sydney

 

Steven Cobbs—Lenoir-Rhyne University

 

Joey Davis—Virginia Military Institute

 

Ben Davidson—University of Richmond

 

Brian Dalton—Virginia Military Institute

 

Tim Davis—Boston College

 

Danny Dodson—William and Mary.  Currently the Head Football Coach at Woodside High School in Newport News, Virginia.

 

Ryan Dean—James Madison University

 

John Myers, Brian Golden, Jack Turner—Ferrum College

 

Randy Dunnigan—West Virginia University

 

Todd Grantham—Virginia Tech.  Currently the Defensive Coordinator of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

 

Lee Gooch—Virginia Military Institute

 

Randy Grubb—Would prep for one season at Fork Union Military Academy before playing at East Tennessee State University.  (NO PHOTO)

 

Shayne Graham—Attended Virginia Tech where he would break and set numerous Big East and school records during his career.  Currently plays for the Cincinnati Bengals where he was selected to his first Pro Bowl following the 2005 season.

Jeff King—Would have an outstanding career at Virginia Tech earning all-ACC honors two years.  Currently plays for the Carolina Panthers.

Jon Lilly—Would prep for one season at Fork Union Military Academy before attending Middle Tennessee State University where he played alongside former Cougar teammate, Eric Webb.

 

Mike Lindsey—James Madison University

 

Eric Madly—Hampden-Sydney

 

Kasey McCambridge—Played at West Virginia University before transferring to the University of Virginia at Wise where he currently plays.

 

Joe McClellan—Emory and Henry College
