1st Half - Franklin County

Jeremy Porter (No. 3, center) caps off the opening drive...

... falling into the endzone, for a 31-yard score.
The PAT was missed.
6-0 PC, with 8:48 left in the half.

In the Canadian Football League, punting can
sometimes put points directly on the board!
Even if John Hedge's awesome kicks don't technically score,
they often set up short scoring drives,
after a defensive 3-and-out.

The ball bounces high inside the 5
(it is in the air, seemingly hitting the crossbar, from this angle)...

The Cougars almost had the Eagles pinned very deep, but
the ball barely went into the endzone, before it could be saved.

Late in the half, it was Derrick Burks, taking it in from 38.

13-0 Cougars!

2nd Half - Franklin County

'Air Hicks!'
Greg Sartin gets open deep, and Britt Shumate delivers.

Sartin almost scored, but was stopped just short of the goalline.

Porter practically walks in, sealing the 19-0 win.

1st Half - Graham

Graham's Nathan Taylor (No. 7) gets some good yardage, on the opening drive.

QB H. T. Matthews' pass for the open Rolan was off the mark,
and the G-Men would end up settling for a field goal.
3-0 Graham, with 7:28 to go in the half.

Cougar QB Britt Shumate (center) scrambles for 6 yards.
Britt wore No. 10 against Graham and Varina, instead of his usual No. 8.

4th-and-11, from the G-Men 31:
Shumate lofts a pass for Brandon Anderson,
over the outstretched hands of the defender.

Touchdown! 7-3 PC!

Anderson (center) nearly picked this one off.

Matt Tilley and Justin Lewis put a hurtin' on Taylor.

"You know, I love cheerleading! But I sometimes wonder if
I put just a little too much trust in people!!"

The Cougars had another drive going, but the official's signal tells all:
Fumble.
The half ended with PC up 7-3.

2nd Half - Graham

Porter hits paydirt from 23 yards away.

Cougars 14, G-Men 3!

Graham got the passing game going on the ensuing drive.
Matthews finds the open Belcher, getting the ball inside the Cougar 20.

Two plays later, Matthews passed to Dixon, who turned upfield...

... and made it in. Graham had answered in less than 2 minutes.
Matthews kept for the 2-point conversion.
14-11 Cougars, with 6:56 left in the game.

Less than 90 seconds later, Porter (center) had an answer of his own!
1st-and-10 at the Graham 45 turns into...

Six points!
John Hedge's PAT made it 21-11,
with 5:30 to go.

The scoring frenzy continued.
Matthews found Taylor in the endzone, and hit him with a nice pass.
The G-Men went for two to try to get within a field goal of winning,
but the pass was incomplete.
The Cougars ran out the final 3:37,
and triumphed 21-17.

1st Half - Varina

A few plays after a Varina fumble,
Porter goes left, and takes it in from 5 yards out.
7-0 Cougars, with 3:01 left in the half.

BIG play here:
The Blue Devils drove all the way down to the 1, with 43.6 seconds on the clock.
On 3rd-and-goal, Varina fumbled, and as the PC coaching staff tells you,
the Cougars recovered!
It was still 7-0, as the teams switched ends.

2nd Half - Varina

Play of the day:
Remember when we ran the criss-cross on
ever other play (or so it seemed)?
Those days might be gone,
but opponents still have to be ready for it!
Ernie Hodge (center, barely visible) does the uniform number
(No. 20, worn for 4 years by all-time leading rusher Josh Calfee)
proud, taking the play left, then cutting back right...

Touchdown, from 46 yards out!!
14-6 Cougars!

The Blue Devils had a 1st-and-10 on the PC 45
with 1:34 to go.
This offensive pass interference set them back for a 1st-and-25.
A 4th-and-15 pass was unsuccessful, and
the Cougars ran out the remaining time.
Cougars 14, Blue Devils 6!
Pulaski County sweeps the TD Classic!
