1st Quarter
Derrick
Burks broke up this thrid down pass, forcing Alleghany to punt.
Justin
"Juice" Lewis got a piece of the ball, which meant bad news for the punter!
Brandon
Anderson (center) starts things off right...
Touchdown,
from 34 yards out!
7-0
PC.
This
is not easy to do in weather like this:
The
snap...
...
the hold...
The
kick.
Good!
John
Hedge's 38 yard boot gave the Cougars a two score lead, at 10-0.
Mountaineer
QB Gavin Haynes broke a long gainer on 3rd down,
but
the Cougar 20 yard line "tackled" him.
PC
stopped Alleghany on the drive as the 2nd Quarter began.
2nd Quarter
QB
Britt Shumate looked out of place, with his clean jersey.
Anderson
got some yardage on 3rd-and-9, but PC had to kick it away.
Very
late in the half, this deep pass for Randall Allen (33) was well defended,
and
it was punt time for Alleghany.
Uh
oh! High snap!
The
Cougars were in business at the 2 yard line!
Oooops.
A
rain-induced mishap returned the favor.
PC
went into the lockerroom to dry off,
still
leading 10-0.
Halftime
"THEY
HAD SLAW!!!"
Our
resident hot dog taste tester and tailgate guru
gave
his stamp of approval to the Alleghany concessions.
Just
like a mailman, a little rain does not stop him
from
making his appointed rounds!
3rd Quarter
Anderson
had a great night.
On
4th-and-3, he sweeps right...
...
turns the corner...
As
the official is beginning to signal, Brandon found his way in, from 29
yards away.
His
second score of the night made it 17-0.
John
Harmon (2) gets one of those hard hits he loves to dish out,
laying
it on Haynes.
On
the next play, Alleghany's woes continued.
This
fumble put the Cougars in point blank range.
From
the 7, this time it was Burks...
24-0!
4th Quarter
One
more time, Brandon!
14
yards later, and Anderson had hit paymud!
31-0,
very early in the 4th!
Oh,
the dangers of the Shotgun snap, especially in this weather...
In
these situations, you feel fortunate just to get the ball back,
even
if you now face 2nd-and-30!
The
clean uniform squad to the rescue!
The
starters got a well deserved rest.
The
rest of the game was uneventful, and
the
Cougars had earned their first shutout of the year,
while
continuing their second half of the season surge,
with
a 4th consecutive victory.
The
final score was a decisive 31-0 PC!
