Time to get serious. Anyone who remembers last year's game, knows how pathetic our offense was on that hot Saturday. The loss left us at 1-4. The 4 game winning streak that followed, saved PC from a losing season. We're in a much better position this year, but a loss to the Ind-er-Bruins (hard to get used to, isn't it?) would probably end any playoff hopes, as last year's loss pretty much did. It will be good to have these next 3 games in a row at home, before heading up I-81 for another grudge match with Salem. Blacksburg's only loss was to Fleming, who handled the Bruins quite easily, at least on the scoreboard. The comparison to our game with the Colonels seems favorable to us, although it must be mentioned that Blacksburg turned the ball over 4 times. Click on the story link, and judge for yourselves. I guess
we'll see Friday night, which team takes a big step towards the first ever
River Ridge District Championship.

The opening night for the River Ridge District was sweet for Pulaski County. The Titans were game, but simply overmatched. Derrick Burks trampled Hidden Valley, for 241 yards and three scores. He added 6 more points on an interception return. Brandon Anderson gained over 100 yards, in only 12 carries, scoring twice. It was 27-0 at the half, and 46-0 at the end of 3 quarters. PC coasted the rest of the way. The Cougars did not punt the whole evening. The Titans were held to 146 yards in total offense. Full Story and Interviews (Hidden Valley Taken to the Ranch!)

GOING
FROM THE HUNTED TO THE HUNTER
Not so many years ago, if you ask people what would happen if Pulaski and Blacksburg played they would have laughed. "It'll be a blowout" would have been one most used responses you would have gotten. Those people didn't take into account that Blacksburg was working on building itself a nice little program up. They were doing it quietly, hiding it for years with great success in soccer. Then people started to take notice of little ol' Blacksburg when they started winning football games on a pretty regular basis. Pulaski found itself faced with a possible New River Valley arch enemy, but still some people were saying the same old things. "Its gonna be a blowout". Well it wasn't. In there first meeting, Blacksburg led at the half 20-17 over the Cougars, and came close to beating them in their own yard. Last year on a hot and nasty Saturday the then Indians handed the Cougars a 20-0 beating while we fans had to fight off yellow jackets and use sunscreen since it was a day game. For years Pulaski has been the hunted one. For those same years, Blacksburg was the silent hunter stalking its prey. Now it seems things may have reversed somewhat. Blacksburg is now one of the big dogs in the yard. They knocked off an undefeated Northside team last year in the first round of the playoffs. They shutout Pulaski. They come into the Cougar Den this Friday night not just wanting to win, but EXPECTING TO WIN. The Cougars come into this game as the underdog. Those who are "in the know" say Pulaski won't beat this strong Bruin team. They say Pulaski just don't have what it takes. I'm sure glad they don't play these games on paper. Folks, this is the biggest game to this point for the Cougars. If Pulaski wins, it continues on in its hopes of making the playoffs, with games remaining against Christiansburg, Cave Spring, and Salem. Pulaski needs to win every one of these games to make sure it has a reserved spot in the playoffs. If the Cougars lose, it could well be the end of any chances of making the playoffs. The Bruins are heavily favored to come into Dobson Stadium and defeat the Cougars. Its Pride Time. Its time to get out and support these kids who represent our County. They've worked hard, they've put in the effort, and they have the talent. The question is this: Do we have the Pride? This Friday night we'll find out. Win, lose, or draw yours truly will be out there early cooking and making noise. We need to get out and let these kids know we're behind them!! Lets fill up those stands on Friday night and show the very large Blacksburg crowd that is expected what COUGAR PRIDE is all about!!!!! GO
COUGARS!!!! BEAT THE BRUINS!!!!!
