Dave Speaks

The Pulaski County Cougar football team held its yearly banquet on Tuesday night to recognize the hard work and effort put forth by this years team. After a great dinner, the team, families, cheerleaders, coaches and fans all moved to the Little Theatre for the awards portion of the night.

To start things off, the group was given a preview of the 2004 Cougar Football Highlight Video, produced by Jim and Anita Mitchum. Nothing makes you want to hit somebody like seeing one of those videos!

Head Coach Jack Turner took the podium after that, and talked about this years team. "I think it is a credit to this team that even after all the playoff games were over, and all the championships had been won, Pulaski County still had the 6th toughest schedule rating in the entire state of Virginia. That says a lot about Cougar Football, and allot about this team. This team has character and this team has heart."

Turner went on to talk about this years Senior Class. "This group of young men put Pulaski County back on the map. They have re-established Pulaski County as a football force. They have worked hard and paid the price to win."

To conclude the evening, the Pulaski County Touchdown Club presented its annual Player of the Year Award to two deserving players. Senior Ernie Hodge was named as Defensive Player of the Year, and Kevin Crouse was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year. Crouse is the first Sophomore to ever receive this award. In the end, it was only fitting that the senior class of this team posed with Head Coach Jack Turner for a picture to be placed on the wall in the field house that they have spent so many years working together and becoming a team. We would like to wish all of the seniors the best of luck in whatever they do in the future, and never forget that you will always be a part of the Cougar Family. Now, all of you underclassmen get back in the weight room and get busy......it's only seven and a half months until two a days start!!!!
