Osborne Commits to Play Football at Harvard

88.JPG (88200 bytes)On Saturday December 16th, Pulaski County football standout Brent Osborne made his college plans official. Osborne, a member of the Southwest Virginia Governors School for Math and Science who is currently ranked number one in his class and has a 4.0 GPA, was officially accepted to Harvard University and has committed to play football for the Harvard Crimson's football team.

Osborne attended the Scout Combine in Durham over the summer, where he measured 6'4.5", weighed 271 pounds and had a 5.56 second forty yard dash, a 4.75 second shuttle run, an 8.19 second Long Cone, a 20" vertical leap and 6’5” standing broad jump. In the 2006 season, Osborne recorded 39 tackles (22 solo), had one fumble recovery, 18 tackles for loss, and 5 pass deflections. 2006 was also saw Osborne line up at the tight end position for the first time.. In 2005 he had 47 total tackles (23 solo) on defense, and he was a River Ridge District Second Team defensive lineman. Rated the #23 junior in the state by the Roanoke Times. In 2004 he had 60 total tackles (30 solo) on defense, was a River Ridge District Honorable Mention DE, and a Roanoke Times Sizzlin’ Sophomore as a defensive lineman.

Harvard, a member of the NCAA Division 1 Ivy League, is coached by Head Coach Tim Murphy.
