We Believe by CougarDave In early August, the Cougar football coaches and players took some time out of their schedule to work with the recreation league players from all around the county during a two day basic skills clinic. During that time, the younger kids got a chance to work with the varsity players and get to know them a little bit. This week, it's the recreation league kids turn to help out the football team, as over 2,000 Pulaski County elementary school children worked together to start the first ever "WE BELIEVE" campaign to support the Cougar Football Team. Coordinated by Guidance Counselor Rebecca Buckland at Dublin Elementary School, the effort began with a simple thought: Let's show the Cougar football team and Coaches that we support them and that we believe in them". The cards started going up on Wednesday evening. They range from small 3 x 5 index cards that simply say "We Believe" to elaborately decorated larger index cards complete with drawings, cheers, and messages to the players to "do your best" and "keep trying hard". There are also cards that have messages to certain players on them as well as to the entire team. A lot of these younger kids have big brothers or cousins that play for the Cougars. Phase two of the plan is to get local businesses involved. we are asking for any local business with a window, a sign, or any other place you could put up a sign or a banner to put up the words "WE BELIEVE" to show their support. For more information, please contact Becky Buckland at 643-0743. We would REALLY like to push this before the game on Friday vs. Hidden Valley, and we'd like to continue pushing it though out the season and then on into basketball season and then spring sports. Lets show the Cougars that we're still behind them and that we appreciate all their hard work this season!! GO COUGARS!!! |
