Pulaski came out and scored on their opening drive off of the legs of quarterback Luke Watson. The Titans didn’t seem to be expecting a mobile quarterback that first drive, and Pulaski got the quick score off of it. Hidden Valley came back on their first drive and Castro hit Aiken on a beautiful 65-yard touchdown pass down the home sideline to tie things up. The Cougars were able to drive the ball down the field to put the ball back in the endzone, capping off a long drive with a 1 yards TD run by Seth Parris early in the third quarter. With the score 14-7 PC at the half, the Titans came out and hit paydirt quick. Matt Aiken took the opening kickoff of the half 92 yards through the Cougar kickoff team to score. A missed PAT left the score 14-13 PC. Hidden Valley was able to score again with 1:30 left in the third, when they hit a 30-yard field goal to go up 16-14.

While there had been many questionable non-calls in the game, mainly two OBVIOUS pass interference calls that were not thrown, forcing PC to punt both times, the absolute craziest call of the game came with around 4 minutes left in the contest. Pulaski County’s Tahrick Peak intercepted a Titan pass and took it deep into HV territory. Shortly after that, it was 4th down and 3 inside the Titan 15 yard line. The Cougars executed a perfect hard count, drawing several Titan defenders offside. Flags were thrown and the whistles blew. After the officials conferred, the flag was waved off. According to one official, HV had said they wanted a timeout, negating the penalty, even though it appeared to happen and the flags were thrown before the whistles blew. The Cougars missed a FG attempt, and HV took over. The Cougars defense held again, and after a Titan punt Cougar quarterback Luke Watson ran a near perfect 2 minute drill to move the ball into scoring position, and he hit Antwyn Calfee on a 33-yard TD pass to take the lead back. Desperate to move the ball and retake the lead, the Titans were forced to pass, and safety Zane Quesenberry took one of his two interceptions on the night 41 yards for the final score of the game, putting it at 28-16 after a good Songer PAT.

Hidden Valley will beat some of the River Ridge District teams before the season is over, and they almost beat the Cougars tonight. Pulaski showed a lot of heart and determination to fight back and take this one, when it appeared like the Titans were going to keep the "home team curse" alive and well. The Titans have a lot of really good athletes and while their line is small, they are fast and effective. Pulaski learned a lot from this game tonight, and it may have been just the kind of game they needed to open up their eyes going into the rest of the district schedule. We'll find out next week when they face Cave Spring. Best of luck to the Titans on the rest of their season.
