Cougars Crush Bruins, 42-0
Cougars
Move Deeper In Playoffs Pulaski County High School continued its winning ways on Friday with a 42-0 thrashing of the Blacksburg Bruins. While I would like to be able to put something positive in this story to say at least the Bruins went out with a fight, the complete and total domination by Pulaski County makes it hard to find one. The Cougars scored early and often, putting a total of 35 points on the board in the first half. Touchdowns from Seth Parris (2), E.J. Dobbins (2), and Nubian Peak put the Cougars in the drivers seat and started a second half continuous clock. Pulaski County gained 343 total yards of offense, while the "Gold Swarm" defense held the Bruins to 78 total yards in the contest. Senior quarterback Trey Gresh was rendered ineffective as the Cougars moved into a different defensive setup and for the first time this season put offensive standout Nubian Peak on the defensive side of the ball. How did that work out for Pulaski? Well, Peak gathered in two interceptions and played smothering pass defense, which added to the already effective Cougar defense. Pulaski County now moves to 11-0, and this win sets up what may possibly be one of the biggest games in Pulaski County history. It will be Pulaski County vs. Salem....again. Last week's contest saw a huge crowd and possibly the largest 50-50 of all time in the State. Oh yeah, and there was a really good ball game that night too. Anyone who wants to be at this game should be ready to get there early, because you can expect standing room only at Kenneth J. Dobson Stadium this coming Friday night. It will be the Cougars vs. the Spartans for the Region IV Title.
