Cougars Open Practice
The 2008 version of “The Pride of Pulaski County” got their season underway today with the opening of practice. Approximately 80 players showed up today with hopes of earning some playing time for the cardinal and gold, and from the looks of things the competitions for spots will be tight. The Cougars lost a large number of seniors from last years team, with
many of those players being starters. Several of those players will be going on
to attempt to play at the next level. Demetrious Brown will be attending Ferrum,
Josh Owens and Matt Jones will be attending Emory and Henry, Cam Akers will be
attending Bridgewater, David Jeter will attend UVA-Wise, Mandela Adams will be
playing at UNC-Pembroke, Tyler King will be going to Liberty University, and
Shay Dunnigan will attempt to walk on at Marshall. Returning for the Cougars this season will be a host of talented players. Virginia Tech committed running back Nubian Peak will be joined at the running back position by his younger brother Tahrick Peak. In the fullback spot will be last years starter Seth Paris, along with a strong and healthy E.J. Dobbins who was injured last season.
