Cougar Football Gets More Good News It's not everyday that you get a piece of good news, and it's even more rare when you get two things in one week. This week was one of those weeks, however, as a current and a former Cougar have made headlines. Former Cougar Brandon Anderson was signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colt, and rising senior linebacker Tahrick Peak made a verbal commitment to play his college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Anderson, who finished his 2003 season with 171 rushing attempts for 1,102 yards, 7 receptions for 125, 14 touchdowns, 8 kickoff returns for 224 yards, 1 interception and 51 tackles, left Pulaski County and took a semester to improve his stock at Hargrave Military Academy. After that he signed with Akron University, where he was a four-year Letterman for the Zips, who started 17 of 48 games. He totaled 42 tackles with 27 solo as senior, and started all 11 games. He saw action in 12 games as junior, totaling 22 tackles and 16 solo. Brandon saw action in 6 of 12 games as a sophomore. He recorded 27 tackles on the season, including 19 solo. He also appeared in all 13 games as freshman, where he totaled 22 tackles including 16 solo. While at Akron, Brandon majored in marketing. On the Colts official website, he is currently listed as wearing jersey number 36. Tahrick Peak, a rising senior linebacker and brother of running back Nubian Peak, will be joining his older brother in college as he verbally committed to play football for the Virginia Tech Hokies early Friday morning. Tahrick finished the 2008 season as the teams leading tackler with 127 total tackles. He also added 2 pass deflections, an interception, and 7 tackles for a loss to his defensive stats. Peak will be expected to compete for time as an inside linebacker, and he chose the Hokies after receiving offers from several other schools.
